Greetings valued Club Members!
We want to say a big and warm THANK YOU to all our members who joined us for our first ever Member Appreciation Mixer. It truly was a complete success and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing so many members festively dressed up and enjoying each other's company at Casa Grande, it was a wonderful sight to behold!
Thank you as well to our members who brought in photos of their loved ones to be placed on our Altar de Día de los Muertos at Las Palmas. It is such a beautiful Mexican tradition; remembering those that were so important in our lives.
We are very pleased to take this opportunity to share that we have continued improvements throughout your Club.
Please help us welcome our new Golf Pro, J. Alfonso Lozano! Alfonso is a PGA Associate working towards his PGA Membership. He was born in Brownsville, Texas, and started playing golf at a very young age in Matamoros, Mexico, at Club Campestre El Saucito. Later, he played on the Saint Joseph Academy Varsity Golf Team. Alfonso graduated from the Dallas Art Institute with a degree in Digital Filmmaking & Video Production. All the while, he has been working towards becoming a PGA Member. He has worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at Harlingen Country Club and South Padre Island Golf Club. Alfonso is ready to fix your golf swing, assist in any golf questions and will be available for private lessons.
As we shared previously, the Club hired a highly qualified turf and golf course consultant to complete a full analysis of our golf course, from tees to greens. Multiple soil and water samples were taken leading up to his arrival so he could analyze the issues we've experienced on our greens. Having fully analyzed all samples and completing his analysis, Mr. White has compiled a comprehensive program for the Fall to push the growth of grass on the greens. This comprehensive program employing the use of fungicide, fertilizer, and cultural practices (aerating and light topdressing) has been strictly followed and is helping. Additional suggestions included the lengthening and widening of mowing patterns on the tees and fairways, lowering the height of cut in the roughs and removing unsightly landscape areas. We've also painted tee markers and added hazard stakes around the ponds. We would also like to remind our Members that the golf course is still under very strict water restrictions from V-Mud 2, contributing to the low pond levels and restrictions on watering the course.
In November, we will be reconstructing and planting a new variety of grass called Platinum Paspalum on the practice green. This grass is highly tolerant of a high salt content which we have here in the valley and is commonly used all over the gulf coast states. The par 3 tees along with Holes 1, 6, 10, and driving range practice tees will be overseeded with Rye grass this month.
The most exciting news is that we have a new irrigation plan being sent out to bid with five very reputable irrigation contractors. We will continue to keep you posted as plans develop.
Thank you for your continued patience and support as we make great strides in improving the golf course experience for the enjoyment of all members and their guests.

We recently rolled out our new menu and we've received wonderful reviews; you can visit our website under the Amenities tab to view our menu or stop by to try out the new items and keep enjoying your old favorites. We've also upgraded our beef cuts to only USDA Prime.
Though we've sadly stopped serving our lunch buffet given the lack of participation, we hated even more to waste so much leftover food from the buffet. We feel sure you will find something on our new menu to both tempt and satisfy your appetite and, since we are adding to our team and continuing to improve our service, we look forward to even more wonderful experiences.
